The METRO Tunnel Project

August, 1987

This is the beginnings of the Convention Center Station and bus staging yard. This steel structure was dropped into a hole vertically, and the hole then filled with concrete. Another similar structure was placed and filled next to it, and another next to that to build a wall of columns that would be the structure that would keep Pine Street in place as the hole for the staging area was dug.
