Gary Rice, carver

 July 1984

Gary Rice and I shared a basement for several years. He would carve his totems and other traditional Northwest carvings on one side of the basement, and I had a small darkroom walled off on the other side.

This exposure took 5 minutes, and he did a bang up job of holding perfectly still with no support other than his carving for this very long exposure.
