Western Washington

Flaming Geyser State Park, 1982

This state park just Southeast of Seattle got its name from the natural gas deposits that were there. At the entrance to the park, you can find a small pipe sticking out of the ground that used to be lit up with a 'geyser' of flame several feet high. The gas is gone now, burned up by the geyser that is this park's namesake.
