The Columbia Center

August, 1984

The last piece of steel arrived painted red, white and blue, with a pine tree on the left end (seen as a blur here). The steel worker about to receive one end of this ceremonial steel is wearing a t-shirt with the design of a tuxedo on it. Above the steel, the elevator crew can be seen atop one of the elevators. This crew had offered to carry my camera up there if I would join them, but I declined their generous offer.

I had my camera and tripod over my shoulder and was walking down the steps when the elevator with the press photographers arrived.
